One-On-One Instruction

Most of my workshops are really designed around group interaction - but sometimes, you just want one-on-one attention so that you can really get the skills down or to address areas of specific concern.  Right now, I'm offering one-on-one instruction in two areas:  Encaustic Painting, or painting with wax, and Basic Beading, the bare bones basics you need to make simple beaded jewelry.

Instruction is held at my home studio, Hearth, in SE Portland, OR.  The studio is located on SE 119th between Powell and Division, with easy access by car from I-205 or I-84, by bike from a nearby Max Station, or by bus from either the Powell or Division lines.  The exact address will be given at registration.

Sessions are 3 hours long, and I prefer to schedule on weekdays and weekday evenings, though weekends can be an option.  (Note: a 50% deposit may be required to hold your time.  Your deposit will not be refunded if you cancel with less than 48 hours notice.)

Encaustic Instruction

Curious about painting and collaging with wax?  I offer personalized, one-on-one instruction at my home studio.  The session is three hours long, and includes all materials and a reference handout to take home, for $140. Bring a friend, and the price goes to $170 - meaning you each pay only $85!  Each student will get two pre-primed Clayboard panels to work on, along with collage materials and access to a variety of encaustic paints and tools.

We'll cover all the basics, and then focus on the aspects you find most interesting: collage, incising, scraping, building texture in the wax, and drawing on the surface.  Contact me directly to schedule your session - weekdays and weekday evenings preferred.

Basic Beading Instruction

With this introductory jewelry making session, you'll learn to navigate the basic tools of beading and the bare bones of wire manipulation and using findings, chain, and nylon-coated beading wire to create your own beaded jewelry.  We can also talk about tools, what you need to get started, and resources for beads and findings.

During class, you'll be provided with tools, findings, and beads, and you'll go home with at least one completed project. The session is three hours long, and includes all materials and a reference handout to keep, for $140. Bring a friend, and the price goes to $170 - meaning you each pay only $85!
